We recently refreshed the Fleek brand and ethos. Here’s the thinking behind it:

We love our Web3 roots, but we feel that focusing too heavily on Web3 jargon can turn off a significant portion of the developer community 🧵

Our mission with Fleek and Fleek Network is to build cloud infrastructure and web services that leverage the benefits of being onchain to deliver a superior cloud platform for developers to run their software and applications on.

This includes better performance, lower cost, open source, verifiability, self-sovereignty, and no central operator (meaning no corporate nonsense like price gouging, data abuse, censorship, deplatforming).

We want to present these benefits in a language that resonates with all developers.

This doesn’t mean we are moving away from Web3 features. Quite the contrary. Instead, we want to present and speak about these things in a way that doesn't alienate developers or make them feel they are in the wrong place.

Learning from disruptors like Uber and Airbnb, who have decentralized traditional industries, we believe the cloud industry is no different. Our approach needs to be simple, straightforward, and familiar, with an equal or better developer experience and tangible benefits that developers can quickly understand.

This brand and ethos refresh is the first step in that direction. We are excited to embark on this journey, which will put us in a better position to accomplish our goals of disrupting the cloud industry and moving cloud infrastructure and web services onchain, ultimately freeing the web.

While the onchain aspects of what Fleek and Fleek Network do are core to our product and mission, we believe that focusing on the value and problem-solving capabilities of our tech, rather than the Web3 buzzwords, is more effective in reaching our goals.
