Tirzepatide: The first-in-class weight loss drug

It is a GLP-1 agonist. In simple terms that means that it inhibits the release of glucagon from the pancreas so that blood sugar does not rise in the user. 

By keeping blood sugar levels in range (not to high, not to low) users of semaglutide can keep their insulin levels in check, curtail hunger, lower their Hb1ac scores and generally keep their diabetes in check. 

This has a host of benefits beyond just diabetes, though. By keeping insulin levels from going too high or too low, tirzepatide reduces hunger, curbs binge eating and other behaviors that can lead to excess weight gain.
