I want to leave my mark on the world, but not in the Steve Jobs or Elon Musk kind of way. I heard Elon say in an interview once that most people don’t want his life and I agree with that. Plus I’m not smart enough anyways.

I want to leave a mark more in the make a good impact on everyone you meet kind of way. I once worked at a grocery store and began a 3 year stint with no alcohol after I started working there. A year or so after I quit, I went back and one guy I used to work with came up to me and said I inspired him to stop drinking and he hadn’t drank for a year.

One time my dog injured his paw and when he was healed but walking a little gingerly I took him to the artisan market. There was a lady on crutches that my dog instantly wanted to say hi to; we chatted for a minute. She enjoyed meeting my dog and looked me in the eyes when we left telling me how good I take care of my dog. I felt a genuine appreciation from her. I got the feeling she appreciated something in our talk.

** Farcaster Treasures ** (my /firstdraft )

I called Bert @mmups a 'Farcaster Treasure' this week. The next day @ted called @samuellhuber.eth the same. Yesterday I almost used it twice--about @pichii in her /live-the-same interview & about @arjantupan & his value to FC.

So, this got me thinking about 'Farcaster Treasures.' I spent 2+ years daily on Twitter & had accounts I loved, but there were no 'Twitter Treasures.'

I think it's because we function as a community here. We learn about people, share our lives, & look out for the community. Our interaction is relational, not transactional--even though there are transactions. 

There are people here who make Farcaster truly a better '4th place' (s/o @loriann this week). I don't think that's true in other places--at least not for me. 

I won't make a list of 'Farcaster Treasures' here. These /firstdraft are a place to start an idea that's knocking around from the week. There are more than a few & I'd welcome hearing about your Farcaster Treasures.

Sometimes it is easier to write poetry 
rather then a story or an educative newsletter. 
It flows more. 
It is easier 
& doesn't have to make sense, 
yet if feels good for my soul to read.

Ads as content and content as ads

On a long enough time horizon this is where all platforms converge. When you see it you can’t unsee it

In ways you see the most obvious forms of this with the creation of UGC (user generated content) spawn an ad format that more natively blends into the feed. In reality this just scratches the surface

Behind the scenes content, vlogging, build in public. In some form or another it’s all an ad for something.. and tbh that’s ok

It’s existed in TV with QVC and infomercials. Hell.. even CNBC and HGTV

Differentiator in time isn’t whether something is an ad or not an ad.. but whether it’s good content or bad. I just hope we let good rise

by the end of this week, everything happening around me, all the incidents, all the difficulties, left me completely drained.

The Unwritten Rules of Farcaster: Cast A Lot*

When the Warpcast team says: Cast a lot* to be successful and be eligible for airdrops and rewards, that’s a huge oversimplification. 

There’s a BIG asterisk in there that’s invisible, but important understand. You need to cast things that are going to get engagement. Casting for castings sake isn’t going to work out in your favor. 

75-80% of casts on Farcaster get zero engagement. That means no likes, no comments, and no recasts. This is bad.
