Meta Platforms is planning layoffs across the company and focusing on hiring machine learning engineers

According to PANews, an internal memo reveals that Meta Platforms, the owner of Facebook, is set to implement expected layoffs across the company next week while accelerating the hiring of machine learning engineers. The memo indicates that layoff notices in most countries, including the U.S., will begin at 5 a.m. local time on Monday. Employees in Germany, France, Italy and the Netherlands will not be affected due to local regulations. Meanwhile, employees in more than a dozen other countries in Europe, Asia and Africa will receive notices between Feb. 11 and Feb. 18.
