I staked all of mine but no allo yet. It says it can take 48 hrs but I hope I don't have to hold 10k on top of staking....

You have to put at least 10k in the vault, where its locked for 3 months. Ranks and allowances are now based on the percentage of the total pool that you have staked more degen staked more allo, higher rank. A rather major change to the whole ecosystem that they kind of threw at usπ this is the staking vault link https://www.degen.tips/airdrop2/season2

Yes, you need to lock your degen in the vault. The minimum is 10k, but the more the better. The amount of allowance you will get depends on three factors: the amount you lock, the total amount the entire community locks in proportion to you and your Rank (but the Rank bonus is small). Another thing though: it seems that a lot of people are buying more degen to lock it to get a bigger allowance - and its diluting the allowance for everyone - so while you may get about 100 for locking up 10k today - it may be just 70 tomorrow and so on. You have to expect your allowance to keep on dropping every day, at least for a while until things settle down.
