Here is a request to artists who do "Post Photography AI" and add the tag photography to the category: AI IS NOT PHOTOGRAPHY! I have no problem with AI. I collect a lot of AI. But if it looks like a photo but was not taken with a camera (or phone), it is NOT photography. Please classify your work accordingly to avoid confusion. Add information in the description! Post-production and editing are wonderful, and as long as it starts FROM a photo, it is photography. If you manipulated a photo and added AI on editing, ok, it is a photo. If you used a photo in your prompt and AI generated a NEW piece, it is AI, not photography. It is only inspired by your photo. Sorry if I sound harsh but we are not going to be respected as artists if we don't set some good practices here.

Agree, as photographer who also likes to experiment and play around with AI I find it very important to make the distinction so my collectors understand the process and are collecting what they want to collect. I always tag my images AI if they are AI. However, I think it would be nice if some of the markets made these tags a little more prominent or had like art medium listed under the titles. Like, what your doing should be a feature, not something we try to hide.

We have a long way to go in terms of market and classification of the art. My talk at NFTNYC last year was about this topic exactly! We need art industry standards if we want to be taken seriously as creators, and NFTs as real art.
