Not a popular thing to tell users, but not all friction is bad. Friction applied strategically can be good for the product, the user, and the community. It ensures: - the right users see the offer, the wrong ones think it’s crazy - expectations are set so users are not surprised - we know where true value is, when people keep on doing the thing in spite of the hurdles

Friction in a community is also valuable. Creating situations where people “self-select” out can help communities only onboard the most aligned people. Of course that only makes sense if your community funnel is good.
