Controversial take: Idina Menzel-style songs are tiring to listen to. I want to love them but they feel like I'm viewing an impressionistic painting in safe web colours. Am I the only one?

To me it also covers songs written for her type of voice. For voice-intense songs i prefer acapella, as very few singers can belt out pleasantly (Celine Dion comes to mind)

If so then I can appreciate the imagery you’ve painted. It’s exactly how I felt with her Defying Gravity versus Cynthia Erivo’s version! I do think it’s a difference in vocal tone.
