Narcissus unknowingly falls in love with his own image, mistaking self-love for love of another. By experiencing love as projection rather than as connection, he self-isolates to the point of dying of unrequited love. In his place grows a narcissus flower, which we call, daffodils. Yes, it could have been Daffodil Personality Disorder, and they would have been called Daffies.
