This is the first issue of Playboy magazine, which was released in 1953 with Marilyn Monroe on the cover. However, Marilyn Monroe did NOT actually pose for the first issue of Playboy. Back in the day, to great acclaim, the actress and singer took these photos because she needed to pay the bills. The photographer who conducted this photo session later sold the pictures for $900 without Marilyn's consent, and Hugh Hefner took advantage of this and thus this magazine was born.
