The Asalem to Khalkhal road is a stunning and picturesque 70-kilometer route that begins in the city of Asalem in Gilan Province and extends to Khalkhal in the southern part of Ardabil Province, located between East Azerbaijan and Zanjan provinces.
Situated in northern Iran, this road is influenced by the region’s unique climate, experiencing rainfall during most seasons of the year. Mist and humidity are constant companions along the route, as the road lies near the Caspian Sea, adding to its scenic beauty.
At the start of the journey, a winding road covered with dense forest trees unfolds before you. As you move further from Asalem and drive for about an hour, you are surrounded by lush green meadows and breathtaking landscapes. Perhaps this is why the Asalem to Khalkhal road is considered one of the most beautiful roads in Iran and is often referred to as the most dreamy forest route in the country.
