Hey y'all. Some of you guys might have noticed something weird in your wallet this week with regards to @custompunks and I just wanted to explain why in case anyone cared : ) A few days ago we found a bug in our original smart contract that prevented us from minting more than 10k items. So in order for us to continue the collection past 10k we decided to re-deploy with the fixed smart contract and migrate all Token ID's from 1-10,000 to the new collection. So for anyone who minted a Custom Punk with Token ID 1 through 10,0000 you'll see a duplicate collection and NFT in your wallet. This is the original V1 collection and it's denoted by the color purple logo and the name and description is marked as V1. The new, current collection is unaffected and continues to mint on past 10,000 items (currently at 10,159 mints) and can be found on Opensea here https://opensea.io/collection/custompunksapp (continued)

If you're asking why we did this it's because this project was never intended to be capped at 10k mints and we messed up back when we created the original smart contract. The truth is this project was intentionally meant to not have a fixed supply, rather it would evolve as the crypto industry grew, adding new features along the way but always be welcoming to newcomers joining us in the fun of expressing ourselves through the profile pics we created. So when we faced this issue we had to make a choice, similar but not quite to the one Matt and John, the founders of the OG CryptoPunks project had to make early on and we decided to keep the original collection in tact, allowing those who minted items 1-10,000 to keep their NFT's and do what they want with them. That's the V1 collection. But we also wanted to keep the ethos of our project in tact, allowing everyone going forward to participate and continue past the 10k limitation so we also migrated these to the new, unified current collection. Maybe some crypto purists might think this is lame and I totally get it but I hope you'll understand that this was never meant to be like all the other 10k PFP projects. All we ever wanted to do was give people a fun experience creating their own profile pics onchain, as often as they wanted and in the most affordable way possible. And FWIW I truly believe that @base is for everyone and that @coinbase is leading the way to bring the next billion people onchain to Ethereum. So if we can continue to help in that mission even the smallest of ways then we're gonna try and do just that, one custom pixelated punk PFP at a time. Thanks to everyone who enjoys @custompunks and to those yet to discover it πŸ’™
