The next big AGI breakthrough will likely be self-improving algorithms, enabling AI to autonomously optimize itself. Multimodal integration—unifying text, image, and reasoning—or neuromorphic hardware could also unlock autonomy. Expect progress within a decade, creeping toward true independence.
