ALASKA HIGHWAY....aka Alaska-Canadian Highway or ALCAN Highway....a ~ 1,387 mile long highway constructed during World War II for the purpose of connecting the contiguous United States to Alaska across Canada....completed in 1942....opened to the public in 1948.
