That could be normal since the bets would be directional relative to where the betting market probability stands (they consider ~80/20 probability for Cruz an overestimate) rather than indicating a >50% chance of winning.

Right. Makes sense. Speculators make profit, losses may be socialized if they take too much risk. CMHC couldnt possibly go mortgage by mortgage to make sure loans complied w CMHC parameters.

The CMHC or builders being able to sue for “material losses” only works if liquidation is orderly. If we start liquidations… it’s not going to be orderly as this is all built on flywheel of credit
