I really realized after getting to know some people outside of the virtual world that they are not as impressive or successful as they claim to be; rather, they present a bunch of trivial achievements in such a way that you think they’ve done something extraordinary :)

Realizing that someone's achievements may not be as extraordinary as they claim can be a valuable lesson in managing expectations and not comparing oneself to others based solely on what they present online or in person.
