The time is now to speak up about restrictive Apple Appstore policies. There is a short window (now until new congress is sworn in) to make real change in regs. I've learned a lot over last year, it's remarkably straightforward to lobby. Costs ~$10k/month to hire a lobbyist to manage everything for you + 1 hour here and there to take zoom meetings with congressional offices.

There are 3 antitrust bills before congress. AICO - mandates that the 5 largest tech companies do not self preference their own applications over others App store bill - mandates that Apple allow sideloading, same as what Android allows today ACCESS - requires 5 big tech companies to provide interoperable interfaces

If you send a message to someone else, you have to assume that they can do anything they want with it. Take WhatsApp and iMessage for example. They are 'e2ee' but both have default backup options that backup messages in cleartext (WA) or with dencryption keys (iCloud)
