Cursor rewriting entire files because it prefers 4 spaces instead of 2 is the new core pain point for me. 

Is there a way to fix this other than succumbing to the ai's preferred formatting?

i find this only happens when using composer

if you use the chat or cmd+k features you can make more granular edits:

1. highlight the lines you want to change
2. cmd+k
3. describe what you want done
4. cursor will edit only the selected lines

Right, I could update the prettier config to comply with what the ai is providing me. Although I guess I could write a custom prompt telling the AI to always write code which complies with my existing prettier config
