discovered a solution for EIP-4444 at no cost when we were working on improving the performance and verifiability of The Graph protocol.

Indexers are incentivised to store archive nodes and flat files in The Graph in order to increase their earnings by offering superior indexing and search services to Consumers. Firehose extracts data from Ethereum nodes into Flat Files containing all blockchain transactions.

Shareable ✅ Verifiable ✅ These flat files can be securely shared between nodes via p2p networks or hosted in a decentralised storage network like IPFS. We have developed an open-source tool to verify Flat Files match the canonical Ethereum chain.

Our Flat File solution is aligned with other EIP-4444 approaches, such as @EthLightClients's Portal Network and Era formats of @ethnimbus. It offers an additional archival format without leading to a heterogeneous distribution of block data.

What are we working on? - p2p flat file-sharing data service, opening up alternative methods to access historical data. - a marketplace for incentivising actors - @streamingfastio Firehose supports multiple chains with a growing list, offering a unified interface.
