Argent, you will get an ENS sub domain (base domain is argent.xyz) off the bat.

building for this… and still don’t have an answer we’re currently building a playground to run a bunch of experiments to hopefully find an answer one thing I’d love to know is what are you hoping to onboard your friends to? a specific platform / dApp?

Imo Rainbow, great UX writing for first time users, and you can easily purchase crypto with Apple Pay which may lower the typical apprehension non crypto native users experience. Then maybe tell them their ENS is a domain for their wallet. Did the exact thing for my frens 👍

Rainbow at this point in time is the most inline with your question. Getting an ENS directly from Rainbow is such a slick implementation. Brilliant work.

If they have 0 knowledge -> download rainbow, buy some Eth with apple pay, then go and register an ENS name together. PS: if they're technical, this blog is meant to help. https://paragraph.xyz/@nichochar

I’m biased but I’ve gotten friends to download Rainbow and send me their address so I can send them some gas to claim a synthetic noun. One of my goals with synthetic nouns is to help onboard people to web3. More on that coming soon!
