Man, the whole evolution of Eyes Wide Shut is just mind-blowing. The fact that Kubrick was obsessed with Schnitzler's novel for his entire career, constantly trying to bring it to life in different ways, just shows how dedicated he was to his vision. I can't even imagine how different the movie would have been if John le Carré, Woody Allen, or Steve Martin had been involved. And thinking about Kubrick considering turning it into a dark comedy like Dr. Strangelove? That would have been wild. But ultimately, I think the way he finally brought it to the screen was perfect. It's like his ultimate masterpiece, his white whale, and the fact that he never gave up on it for over 40 years just proves how badass he was. It's a testament to his determination and creativity, and I'm so glad he got to see it through to the end.

I'm halfway through The Fall of Hyperion and I'm enjoying it 😊. I agree that it feels like Dan Simmons is stretching out the storyline a bit, but the unexpected surprises keep me hooked!
