Krzysztof Kieślowski’s Dekalog (1989) is widely considered one of the greatest series ever made and Kieślowski’s greatest cinematic achievement. It’s really a collection of ten 16mm films all working towards a unified theme.

It is not directly about the same thing, but we are talking about Eastern European cinema, and I cannot fail to mention such an unprecedented masterpiece as Elem Klimov's "Come and See." You brought it to my mind immediately just by looking at this picture.
