now people don’t even know what that is because it’s just called journalism

Almost the same experience. I'm Italian but in school our English teacher really made a distinction at the level of editorial and journalistic language between newspapers such as The Sun and The Times for example.

Distinction between newspaper that reports news to eviscerate and a newspaper that instead eviscerates news for the people by pandering to the people's view.
