it's that simple. what is that value? what are the best ways to capture that value? what is the most efficient market structure for this? these are the big open questions that we spend all of our time thinking and iterating around.

In the case of artistic content, why so much noise about wondering where the value lies, if tools and experts already exist to be able to assess it?

because tools and experts are a subset of the market, often with their own incentives—so why not take the actual answer. could could ask for an appraisal on a house, but an auction will tell you the actual price for example. an analyst can give a prediction for where an IPO may land, but the stock market will give you the actual price.
