"Cryptos vs CBDCs? Reflecting on a Class Discussion"
Today in class, my professor criticized cryptocurrencies as unstable and unreliable, while advocating for CBDCs (central bank digital currencies) as the future of digital money. He argued that CBDCs offer better security and control to prevent fraud.
I responded that, technically, CBDCs run on centralized infrastructure, giving authorities total control over transactions. While this improves efficiency, it raises concerns about privacy and censorship. Cryptocurrencies, like Bitcoin, use public blockchains to ensure security and transparency through decentralized consensus, removing intermediaries and granting user autonomy. Despite issues like scalability and volatility, their decentralization makes them more resilient to manipulation.
We need balanced debate on both technologies. Who do you think won the argument? #Crypto #CBDC #Decentralization 0 reply
