In secret, I conceal my face
A mask to hide, a hidden place
Where emotions roam, and feelings sway
I hunger for a disguise each day
A cloak of calm, a veil of peace
To shield my heart, my soul's release
From prying eyes, from judgment's sting
I yearn for cover, a secret wing
But oh, the weight of this hidden guise
A constant ache, a nagging surprise
For in the silence, I hear my voice
A whispered plea, a heartfelt choice
To shed the mask, to let it fall
To reveal the truth, to stand tall
But fear and doubt, they hold me tight
And so I wear, this hungry night
The mask I seek, a paradox indeed
A symbol of strength, a sign of need
A contradiction that I cannot define
A hunger for concealment, a heart that entwines. 8 replies
