I think the rebrand of crypto to web3 last cycle did a lot of damage to our industry. We tried to sell crypto as the new internet, hoping to onboard tech people and position it as a new tech trend.  

But since Bitcoin's inception, crypto has always been about money. Bitcoin launched after the global financial crisis to address the need for trustless, non-sovereign money. Our industry was never meant to replace tech—it was meant to replace the financial industry. Finance 2.0. 

Instead of trying to reframe it as something it’s not, we should embrace what it was always meant to be: superior money
