I feel like talent show doesn’t fully encompass TikTok’s influence on music, politics, and gen z ‘s sense of humor lol. Also the stuff coming out about how TikTok is being used as a search engine is wild

Yeah, TikTok covers such a wide range. It’s hard to actually describe. I usually say: “Competition for your attention,” but that doesn’t feel perfect either.

I saw someone describe YouTube as choosing what you want to watch and TikTok as choosing if you want to watch - it’s a subtle difference I hadn’t really thought of but for TikTok there’s a lot of pressure to capture people’s attention in like 2 seconds before they keep scrolling
