Is Ethereum starting to die? August 2024 is the worst period of time for generating commissions on the Ethereum network, it was worse only at the beginning of 2020. This is due to the fact that L2 stopped paying and began to take the lion's share of commissions after the introduction of EIP-4844. Thus, Ethereum inflation increased, and L2 only became more popular. Now the ecosystem has divided into several camps, where L2 wants independence and L1 wants to scale. The Ethereum scaling roadmap itself is written with the main goal – decentralization. L2 does not want this, they are centralized enough, they can block RPC over IP without any problems. The irony of fate is straight... They took money and users, while pretending that L2 = ETH. But no, they're more like vampires. Ethereum sacrificed itself for L2, it is beneficial for the venture. The second level is much easier to monetize than the first. That's how the public good turns into a tool for pumping money.
