Ethereum mining is the process of creating a new block of transactions on the Ethereum blockchain. Before the implementation of the Ethereum Merge update, the network, like Bitcoin, used a Proof-of-Work (PoW) consensus mechanism and was therefore minable. However, after the hard fork, Ethereum miners were no longer able to mine the cryptocurrency.
