Masquerade ball (or mask ball) is a special type of formal ball in which many participants wear masks.  (Compare the word "masque"—a formal pageant written and recited at court.) The less formal "costume parties" may have descended from this tradition.  A masquerade ball usually includes music and dancing.  These night events are used for entertainment and celebration.

This ceremony was common in the European courts in the distant past and was held as an opportunity for the nobles and nobles to display luxurious and beautiful clothes as well as create social opportunities.
