Applied to YC today with https://www.getinboxzero.com. Doubt I get in as a solo founder. But let’s see.

Solo founder isn't the biggest deal, getting into YC is basically these three questions: 1. What problem are solving for your customers and how is it uniquely serving them? 2. Why are you the person to build this business? 3. How much progress have you made in what period of time?

Spoken to a fair number of people and seen top founders get rejected for being solo. It’s also the feedback they give you. I realise this isn’t the only thing that matters. But personally feel like it put my odds of passing previous interview from 50% to maybe 10%. Almost certain it’s the single biggest metric that impacts me.

Also that they sent me a specific email pre interview to get a cofounder (not the automated one). And then gave me the interview when I said I have a cofounder lined up. And then when they rejected me mentioned cofounder as key factor. (Cofounder didn’t pan out). And frankly I understand their reasoning. Hard to build a mega company alone.

I’ve been rejected many times when applying with a cofounder too. But I know for sure it’s a big factor for them.
