This week at #networkschool, we learned about #zeroknowledge from Eli Ben-Sasson, co-founder of StarkWare, which has an exciting roadmap, having recently verified the first ZK proof on Bitcoin's test network. I'm a non-technical builder. This lesson prompted me to read more about the debated OP_CAT proposal, which I hadn't previously understood. StarkWare’s OP_CAT proposal could bring ZK proofs to Bitcoin, but the debate over ossification makes it uncertain. ZK on Stacks.co via subnets like zkStacks is possible but complex compared to STARK's efficiency. Bitcoin is important to the world right now. Some developers oppose altering the Bitcoin base layer when other platforms for smart contracts and ZK are emerging in the Bitcoin ecosystem, such as zkStacks and subnets on Stacks, even if they're not (yet?) as efficient compared to STARK's native ZK scalability. Should Bitcoin ossify? It's an interesting argument I'm exploring further... thanks to learning more about ZK at Network School :)
