One new DAOpunk is generated and placed up for auction every 24hrs. The proceeds from each auction are deposited into a treasury that is co-governed by all DAOpunk AND CryptoPunk holders. The goal here is to create a sustainable funding mechanism for the community to leverage.

So what's slightly different from Nouns is that you're giving voting rights not just to the tokens you're auctioning, but also to the OG punks collection?

Yep! That's one key difference for sure. Additionally: - DAOpunks inherit the same rarity/trait distribution as CryptoPunks. - Created a registry of all 10k CryptoPunks to ensure no DAOpunk will ever be a duplicate. - And, as you've said, the ability to co-govern a DAO & treasury between two distinct NFT collections.
