Great discussion about smarter-than-human AGI: Can we control it? Should we race to it? Do we need international collaboration? @demishassabis @Yoshua_Bengio @dawnsongtweets Yaqin Zhang https://t.co/8XLplsFtGV

Just turn it off? Google DeepMind's Anca Dragan: we very much worry that for a misaligned system ... you get a lot of incentives to avoid, to turn off, the kill switch You can't just say 'oh I'll just turn it off, it'll be fine' ... an agent does not want to be turned off. https://t.co/z5IsJ0urCt

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models. In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013. https://t.co/FFWPogjIH6

I hereby disavow the talking-point that no one knows how to steer AGI. I think there are people who know. It's hard to tell who does or doesn't, which means society is taking a big risk by letting people make AGI. But that's what seems to be happening.
