Farcaster Dev Day impressions - developers, developers, developers - Merkle team takes in so much input and feedback, has complex problems to solve and things to build, yet impressively prioritizes with great focus - I constantly was thinking "whoa, people in this room are like *smart* smart" - it’s 10% humbling, 90% reinvigorating seeing not just the brains but passion behind a lot of these projects; project update casts don’t capture the nuanced excitement of someone speaking - building anywhere between 10% to 100% on top of Farcaster are both viable strategies today, albeit the latter is higher risk (and higher reward) given the hard pivots APIs have to take for the sake of moving fast - imposter syndrome fades quickly when people you respect hear your ideas and show genuine excitement and encouragement to see them through - overall it felt like a bunch of candles of varying flames come together and ignite each other; that is to say it even if it was mostly talking, it was lit 1/2

Even though I'm not a Dev so this isn't my target community, I feel like I miss out on so much from being anon, having a highly limited ability to travel away from the family by my wife's anxiety disorder, and having a day job that's not related to my Web3 presence in any way, meaning I can't make it a business trip (and dedicate my vacation days to the family) I've also seen many times how limited I've been career wise by my decision to dedicate family as top priority Example, before kiddo was born, I ended up having to demote myself from a previous leadership role in a finance research setting so they'd let me work part of my time from home - they wanted all team leaders in office all the time, and even though I was making great money for that part of the world (vague for anon purposes), we couldn't afford a place in the megapolis where I worked with a yard where we'd want to raise a kid so I rented a small flat a few subway stops from the office and we built a house 2 hours away by commuter train (1/2)

While I wouldn't change any of those decisions, I am regularly reminded of their consequences That said, in stoked that you and others had such a great time It's awesome to be in any sort of digital proximity to the amount of positive people who aim to contribute to someone greater than themselves as I've met here in FC community (2/2)
