Bee update. The nesting tubes are filling up! Each one will have 6-8 eggs, which will eventually hatch, become larvae, then pupae, which will build cocoons and transform Into next years’ bees. Check out at the little bees resting, waiting for it to warm up a bit more before doing their thing. 🐝

There is a little wooden drawer that you drop the cocoons into at the beginning of Spring. I think when they hatch they just realize that they have the resources they need there, so most of them just return. Some will go lay eggs other places, I’m sure. We haven’t had an issue with other insects (other than spiders). Sometimes when you peel the tubes in the fall, you’ll find little maggots, so flies or some other insect must also lay eggs on occasion.
