pessimism is contagious. most of it should be dealt with internally. especially when there is no clear solution for it. optimism is also contagious. unlike pessimism, we should exude it externally as well as internally even when there is no clear solution yet - it inspires other as long as it is backed by action.

Yep. A lot of founders forget to be leaders - and leading from the front means remaining optimistic and inspiring some hope, rather than being a bastard at the front of the pile shouting about how everyone else is a bastard. Which is unironically the toughest part of the job.

Agree, consistently find this to be the hardest thing. My coach says "there's no empathy up" - really tough to have to eat all the challenges and pessimism and doubts without anyone to share that, but then maintain optimism and leadership externally for others.
