Both @v and @dwr.eth unfollowed me today because of this. Great example of the leadership and transparency being praticed on Farcaster. Keep up the good work guys 👏

My 2 cents:

Money and attention attract farmers. 
Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Farmers emerge at the app level, and while they have a wider impact, addressing the issue at the app level is the key. 

V/dwr taking drastic actions against farmers doesn't align with the permissionless nature of FC.

Then at least let's publicly own up to this and transparently define what a "user" is on Farcaster, so that when someone goes to analyze the raw protocol data, they don't tell their friends "this place is full of spam"

I believe the power badge is an attempt to define what a user is. As far as I understand, getting engagement from power badge users helps a non-power-badge user obtain the badge more quickly. So, in theory, it should work fine and build an organic definition of a user over time.

I've just looked at the top 1000 casts based on most likes recieved since Sunday, April 21, and it turns out that @imthedude has casted 175 of them. That's 17.5% of the top-performing casts in the last three days. If this isn't spam, I don't know what is! But somehow, this person still has the power badge.

I like the power badge idea and it seems like right after I pointed out that a lot of spammy users had obtained it, WC team announced that they were going to improve it. I also like what @airstack is doing with SCV airstack.xyz/trending-casts

It's essentially an ML problem now, and I'm optimistic on both.

What the dude is doing is creating these tip raffles with like and recast requirements. There are thousands of people who will do that for 10 cents. I don't think the Warpcast algo sees this as a bad use and it boosts those casts rather than nerfing them.
