šØš Switzerland šØš The Gelmerbahn is a funicular in the Hasli Valley in the Swiss canton of Bern. It connects the village of Handegg with Lake Gelmer. It operates during daylight hours from early June to mid-October. š¢ The Gelmer Funicular, with a gradient of 106Ā°, is considered the steepest in Europe. Its open carriage takes visitors to Lake Gelmer, located at an altitude of 1860 meters above sea level. Lake Gelmer is artificial, formed by melting snow in the mountains and used by the Grimsel hydroelectric power station.
