It’s hard to describe how overwhelming this Rothko is in person.

It’s 10ft tall and the colouring is much more subtle and textured than the picture.  The red exudes a constant pressure that leaves me feeling exposed.  It’s both unnerving and thrilling.

I never expected to feel that way in response to any piece of art, let alone abstract.
