I'd love to know how much the mad scientists at Farcaster thought this through versus it being a happy accident but it certainly has worked out well!
Interesting framing to think about it less as random tipping and more as individually guided allocation of future protocol resources / governance / influence.

Permissionless social networks like Farcaster allow for anyone to build anything they want on top of them. That’s what makes it a fertile place for innovation and experimentation which has attracted a unique group of builders.

My cast may seem like I was questioning the decentralised nature of Farcaster. Not at all; rather I was hoping to convey that this may be the purest way of true community led decentralisation over time.

I doubt the farcaster team thought about tipping at all until degen tipping took off so it was likely a happy accident which happens more often when you create an environment for permissionless experimentation
