A cosmically coincidental, and #based tale. WHAT'S IN A NAME? From the creator of Who Is Ebert

Film reviews weren’t something I came to until a bit later in life. Movies came and went. The flicks I enjoyed stuck around, while those I disliked turned to vapor. But as I dove deeper and deeper into the exploration of film, Roger Ebert was a name I’d often see floating around the discussion boards. His top 10 lists were ubiquitous in the film community, and led me to many of my favorite films to date.

I decided to partially dedicate Ebert’s name to the memory Roger Ebert in 2022. A man who was so entrenched in the world of cinema that he dedicated his life’s work to discussing films. His work guided me to forming my own perspective about the things I watched — and that having A perspective, be it positive or negative, was better than having NO perspective at all.

Yet, beyond the WHAT I didn’t look very far into the WHO of Roger. I connected the name to the film world and left it at that. And it wasn’t until about 7 months ago I learned about his battles with cancer. If you didn’t know, Roger struggled with multiple forms of cancer later in life before he died, much of which attacked his salivary glands, thyroid, and jaw.

And through all of the radiation treatment he underwent, he came out on the other side with a very important change to his physiology.
