I'm obviously bullish on web3 - but I wish we'd call out b.s. arguments people make. On the BASE twitter space, someone was talking about "why decentralization" and the example they gave was "centralized DB's getting corrupted." What are the last 3 instances of that happening?

Golden State Warriors and Coachella were using FTX’s centralized DBs to store their NFT collection metadata They can’t reroute baseURI either bc FTX was managing the contracts If it happened in 2022 with industry leaders, then it can happen again in the future, potentially at greater scale

I don't really understand that logic though. Couldn't I just as easily point to any web3 related hack and say something similar? Or why not point to all the good use-cases of the millions of good "centralized" databases cases. The point I'm hammering is that shitting on current tech makes no sense.

I agree. Not every web3 app needs ‘full decentralization’ - Farcaster is proof of that The FTX <> Coachella / Warriors situation could’ve been avoided if the centralized entity was the brand itself rather than the technical partner. We live & learn
