Might start saying some random things about writing on Farcaster so I'm not copy-pasting content from Twitter.

#1: Writing is a good way of understanding myself and the world around me. I can understand my thoughts and beliefs better when I put them into writing.

#2: Writing can be useful for getting through hard times. I've written when I was sick, broke, depressed, and going through shitty life situations. Something about being able to immerse in something that's not my worries is very therapeutic.

#4: Writing a lot is a life hack for introverts and autists with bad social skills. You can connect with your people because everyone knows how you think and people who share the same beliefs are drawn to you. The relationships I formed online with people who see my writing are some of the best.

#5: Writing is beautiful. I have no way of explaining it, but writing is like working on a piece of art. It's satisfying to write an article or a post or a story and think "Yeah, I cooked on that one". Beautiful writing means all the different elements manage to fit in one cohesive whole.

#6: Writing is a good way of tracking personal growth. I can look back at my previous writing and see where my beliefs changed or where I opted for new paths. I can also see the things that have remained true for me throughout the years. Creating a personal blog is an underrated life hack.

#7: Writing is useful for developing conviction. When I write, I can understand what I believe and why I believe it. If an error exists in my mental model, it becomes obvious (clear writing gives poor thinking nowhere to hide). This makes defending my beliefs easier because I've thought them out thoroughly.

#8: Writing is underrated for leadership. I've never seen myself as a leader of any sort, but I do try to write out my goals and get people onboard. That requires clear communication and the ability to articulate a rationale for pursuing goals in the first place.

#9: Writing should be as long as it needs to be. I've written 10,000-word articles and I've written 280-character posts. You don't need your writing to fulfill some arbitrary criteria like no. of words. Some classics are ridiculously long, but no one complains because every word and sentence serves as a purpose.

#10: Writing is work. The biggest mistake people can make is thinking that getting better at writing is easy because "everyone writes". It's probably an easy skill to pick up, but it's a skill nonetheless and building any skill requires work. "Write more" is cliché, but it's true.

#3: I read a lot more than I write. This is standard advice for every writer. I was a voracious reader in my early years: an example is that I started reading newspapers when I was eight and was already reading novels at 10. Exposing myself to different types of writing has helped refine my personal writing style.
