As a founder, I’m asking for your email address when you sign up for my product. I know, I know: something something decentralization. But there’s just no good way to re-engage wallets at this point in time. XMTP isn’t widely adopted, tokens/NFTs can get hidden by wallets, and lots of people aren’t even using wallet notifications. Email is cheap, ubiquitous, familiar, and battle tested. An email list is worth way more than a wallet list (or even an FC list).

In this case it was. Here’s the feedback we got: 1. ETH-only login: “shouldn’t I be getting an email”? 2. ETH login with email optional: “I don’t want to put in my email. But shouldn’t I get an email?” 3. Email login with ETH optional: “great onboarding flow! I guess I would prefer to sign up with ETH addy, though” Classic stated vs revealed preference
