All good here, in Thailand since the 16th. Had some fun experiences already. Feels strange celebrating the festive season in 30 ºC though 😂

Love it here so much. It's my second time here and I really don't think many places can compare. Food is excellent and ultra available. There's so many food stalls it's almot impossible haha People are so friendly and helpful. Not overly pushy neither. Currently in Chiang Mai and it's certainly a place I could easily spend a couple years of my life.

Means a lot to hear that from you, I’ll remember dearly. I’ve heard good words about Thailand plenty of times, particularly from people who went off the tourist tracks more and more and fell in love with the country. I have not been there yet(!) so I’m certainly looking forward.

Oh really? You should certainly come when you get the chance. Let me know if you happen to come in the next two months lol Back to Spain in March, sadly. But will probably look at coming back to Thailand next year, hopefully for 6 months at minimum. I'm a sucker for a good beach and the beaches here can be absolutely breathtaking. How's Kyoto been over the Christmas holidays? (It is Kyoto you're in, right?)

:) Yes, I’m in Kyoto for the holidays. It’s colder than Kagoshima. When I arrived in the evening, it was really cold -- only about 2°C with biting wind, so that was a bit of a shock. Hard to imagine for you right now, hehe. It’s warmed up a bit since then, around 10–13°C during the day and 5°C at night. Kyoto is beautifully unique too, full of culture, and has thousands of temples (literally ~1,600 Buddhist temples and hundreds of shrines). I love it here, but after just a few days, I already miss Kagoshima too. These have been very contemplative days, which I’ve liked. Looking outside and inside. If I happen to be in or come to the same area as you I'll be sure to hit you up. I'm probably not coming south in the coming months as I'm quite busy here but you never know. Most likely next year!

I'd never actually heard of Kagoshima until you mentioned it. Did a bit of searching and seems like a really chill place. Kyoto, on the other hand, I did know about and I'm certain I will go there at some point in my life. I guess travelling sometimes makes us open our eyes about our home and things we maybe take for granted.

> I guess travelling sometimes makes us open our eyes about our home and things we maybe take for granted. I’ve always felt like that. Imho the same applies to studying other cultures, what we realize is that by looking at the other, we reflect on the self. Because we see the other through ourselves. I learned a lot about myself and where I come from by learning about culture other than my own.

Yeah Kagoshima is much less known outside of Japan. You see only few foreigners there in comparison to Kyoto. It’s a very special place for several reasons, one of them being that it has Japan’s most active volcano, the Sakurajima. It lives. For me, it’s like a special entity whose presence I feel and connect to

I auotmatically imagined it was Mt. Fuji, which really goes to show how ignorant I still am. I know how you feel with the connection. It's the same for me when I'm on a beach in my hometown... the water is calling me and when I get in... all my pains go away. I feel revitalised and so so happy.
