There will be two winners taking home 5 ETH each :~) Funded by the Nouns Builder DAO.

This sounds great! I often have ideas I know I can’t execute. One question though: What purpose has the NFT you can mint in your shared link above? Is that needed to participate? Or is that set as an example on how you would mint an idea?

It’s required. It acts a timestamp and record of the idea. 

If it turns out a previously “bad” idea is actually an extremely great idea, that NFT is a record and it may also become worth something.

I see. So in your case you mint the idea of the idea hackathon, correct? Have you minted one yourself, too (sorry was too lazy to check for myself, yet 😅)? 
Feels like it would make sense that the idea creator also should mint one edition himself.
