i looked into bitVM recently excitedly as it was the first new bitcoin l2 thing i’d heard of recently- unfortunately from a quick read it doesn’t seem viable: - too slow and cumbersome - inherent centralization (no path to having a permissionless challenger) at best doomed to liquid network style existence

if i’m wrong please correct me but my reading was basically that the challenger role in their fault proof scheme can be spammed by a third party preventing resolution, thus is permissioned

at a meta level though it’s cool to see that bitcoin still has somewhat of a builder culture, though it’s clear that the aversion to adding any new opcodes is going to severely limit scaling
