Does EIP-3074 mark the end of account abstraction?

But that doesn't mean that it won't have a massive impact on our industry.

2/ Currently, there are no simple solutions for Ethereum EOA users (e.g. MetaMask, Coinbase or embedded) to access advanced features like gas sponsorship or social recovery.

Developers are required to adopt smart contract wallets (SCW), create flows to transfer assets, and more.

4/ Enter EIP-3074, which enables Smart Contract Wallet-like capability to be natively supported into your Externally Owned Account (EOA).

No need for additional wallets.

5/ Instead of serving as a replacement, the additions brought by EIP-3074 complement the basics of existing EOAs and set them up for further enhancements from account abstraction.

6/ By simplifying the process for both users and developers, EIP-3074 is paving the way for a more accessible Ethereum ecosystem.

But no major change comes without challenges. And this upgrade could take a while to fully roll out.
